About us

My grandfather used to talk about it, way back when, and then my dad, in passing, that we’d do something with the horses. In passing, but they never stopped. It was unheard of, then, a dream: loading the tourists up on horses and riding along the trails. Letting them see a different side of Sifnos. Unheard of and yet, on the other hand, as obvious and as traditional as it could get. It was for donkeys and mules that our trails were made, even in my own memory. But for something to find its feet, there needs to be a change of heart.

With two horses that first summer, in 2016, and a lot of anxiety, it began. Bit by bit and trail by trail, with a couple of clients and family and friends, just to see if it worked. And it did. By the following year, we had six horses and our confidence had tentatively grown. We roamed the island, with beginners and professionals, with people who started off scared and fell in love with the horses on the way to Ai Stathis, and with those who could ride before they could walk and gazed down on Sifnos from its tallest peak, at Profitis Ilias. And everyone said how wonderful it was, and how did it not exist before, something as obvious as this?

Coming now to the end of our eight season, Sifnos Horseriding has become, dare I say it, an institution. With old clients who have become friends and come back, year after year, and with new ones who will return, with routes that we design for each and every one of you, so you might see a different side of Sifnos. Off the beaten track, far from the bustle and the crowds, along the age-old trails that haven’t changed that much: the Sifnos of way back when, as it used to be in the day of my grandfather and my dad.
